I’m Adrienne Schaumann, an illustrator and maker from the Midwest United States. I draw a lot of inspiration from local wildlife, plants, and the beauty of the outdoors. As an adult I have discovered foraging as an exciting and delicious hobby, and use what I learn about plants in my illustrations. I now live in France, and have whole new ecosystems to learn about!
In addition to nature, foreign languages and cultures influence my hobbies and artistic work. I speak English, Spanish, French, and some Italian, Arabic, and understand Portuguese. Since 2018, I have been fortunate to spend time living in Italy, France, and Croatia, and I loved absorbing the culture and artistic aspects of these places, and created an infographic country poster series that is ongoing and so much fun.
So far, I have illustrated patterns and individual designs for the sticker company Big Moods, and editorial illustrations for Uruguayan company Tero. I've also published a children's book! In the future, I will publish an illustrated cookbook, a line of greeting cards, and a line of patterned fabrics.
My favorite part of my illustration work is the amount of learning and growing artists can do from observing each other and collaborating. Some of my favorite artists include Ira Sluyterman van Langeweyde, Sha’an D’Anthes, Yvan Duque, and Felicia Chiao. I hope I can work with some of these talented individuals in the future, and look forward to continuing to learn from them.
